Art Therapy Session for Amputee Children

Art therapy sessions for amputee children, accompanied by their parents are held from time to time at the Rotary Community Centre, which houses our Artificial Limbs Centre (ALC). The ALC, since its founding has provided artificial limbs and calipers to more than 34,000 people from less-privileged backgrounds, free of cost.

The sessions are conducted by Salma Habib, a volunteer who dedicates her time once a month. She is an NCA graduate and runs her own art studio in Karachi. During the sessions, while the children are engaged in activities to develop their cognitive skills, parents are individually briefed on the process of obtaining a disability stamp on their national identity cards, by following the required guidelines. This enables them to access concessions, discounts, and benefits offered by government institutions and other organizations. The briefings to parents are conducted by Mr. Adnan Tariq, an employee at Aga Khan University, who also volunteers his time for this initiative.
