The Rotary Club of Karachi celebrated its 93rd Charter Night on May 23, 2026, at the PC Hotel. It was an evening of service, fellowship, and community, that brought together Rotarians and distinguished guests. The evening began earlier with an official visit by District Governor Shakeel Kaim Khani of RI District 3271, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
RCK members Aamir Butt and Amena Khan took on the joint responsibility of MC duties.
The Charter Night began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by playing of the National Anthem. After this, RCK President Naila Masood delivered her welcome address. She reflected on a year guided by three core principles — diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability, which shaped RCK’s work in poverty alleviation, environment, and health. A key milestone was an MOU with Sindh Microfinance Bank to provide microfinance loans to beneficiaries of RCK’s artificial limbs project. This will enable the physically challenged people establish sustainable livelihoods.
On the environment front, RCK partnered with the Forest Department, Rotary Club Silver Sands, and Community Policing Karachi to carry out a plantation drive.
Drug awareness drives were conducted with Beaconhouse International College and District South, Sindh Police.
Other activities included continuation of ongoing projects like artificial limbs, dialysis, mental health awareness and breast cancer awareness programmes.
A ration drive during Ramzan was also carried out and distribution of 450 ration bags to less-privileged families was done,.
President Naila Masood also acknowledged the collective effort behind the year’s accomplishments, highlighting the support of the Board, senior Rotary leadership, fellow members, and the Club’s administrative team. She further announced that the Club had successfully raised Rs. 11 million in corporate donations during the year and proudly unveiled the newly redesigned Rotary Club of Karachi website, as well as the revival of the Club’s monthly newsletter, Karachi Rotarian.
Speeches were then delivered by PDG Akhtar K. Alavi and Trustee Aziz Memon, who shared personal reflections on their journeys with RCK, while DGE Shahzad Sabir and DG Shakeel Kaim Khani addressed the gathering with guidance and vision for the district.
The evening’s most celebratory segment followed: the presentation of mementos to RCK’s Shining Heroes. Two distinguished lists honoured Rotarians with 20 or more years of service, as well as those who had delivered outstanding performance during 2025–26.
Trustee Aziz Memon, DG Shakeel Kaim Khani, DGE Shahzad Sabir, PDG Akhtar K. Alavi, President Naila Masood & Honorary Secretary Zohare Ali Shariff, jointly took to the stage to give away the awards. President Masood also presented a special memento to the District Governor and a bouquet of flowers for the first lady. IPP Shoaib Ismail then delivered the vote of thanks.
The night concluded with a buffet dinner and a live performance by the acclaimed Shahid Ali Sonu, a Pakistan Idol Top 5 contestant, whose voice carried the evening to a fitting and memorable close.
