Dr. Amjad Saqib is the founder Chairman of Akhuwat Foundation, the world’s largest interest-free microfinance program in the world, which has disbursed over Rs. 382 billion to around 4 million poor families in Pakistan so far, and who launched Pakistan’s first fee-free higher education institution, the Akhuwat College, soon to become a university.
He is also the Chairman of Punjab Development Network (PDN), the Executive Director, Fountain House, a 500-bedded institute for treatment and rehabilitation of mentally challenged people, and the Chairman of the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.

Dr. Damji completed medical school at the University of British Columbia, residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa, a clinical fellowship in Glaucoma at Duke University, and an Executive MBA from Queen’s University.
He was at the University of Ottawa as a glaucoma specialist and clinical scientist, and then moved to the University of Alberta where he was Professor. He was appointed Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Alberta, where he is also professor emeritus. Dr Damji’s research is focused on stem cell therapy for glaucoma, use of technology to improve access for eye care, benefits of microinvasive glaucoma surgery, and a ‘sandwich’ training model to develop glaucoma subspecialists and leaders in Sub Saharan Africa.
He has authored over 190 peer-reviewed publications and is senior editor for the Shields Textbook of Glaucoma. A motivational speaker and trainer, Durdan Ansari joined the BBC as a Presenter in 1985, where she remained for 2 decades, moving from BBC Urdu to the World Service’s English-language programmes, Meridian, Outlook and eventually The World Today.
In 2006, she was invited to lead a charity project in the UK to educate British Asian Muslim women. The project has engaged more than 9,000 women from marginalized backgrounds, teaching them English lessons and IT skills and offering cultural activities. She received an OBE from the Late Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II for her contribution to this work.

Muhammad Irfan Soomro serves as Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Liaison Office, Karachi, since January 2024. Mr. Mohammad Younus Dagha is a veteran civil servant with over 34 years of leadership experience across energy, finance, commerce, trade diplomacy, and public administration. He holds degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Law, and Commerce. He has served as Federal Secretary for Finance, Commerce, and Water & Power, and held senior administrative roles in Sindh, KP, and Gilgit-Baltistan. As Chairman of the FPCCI Policy Advisory Board (2021–2024) and later founder of PRAC, he led major policy papers across key economic sectors. Syed Peer Muhammad Shah is currently serving as DIG Traffic Karachi. He holds a B.E. degree from MUET, an MSc in Criminal Justice Policy from LSE, and is pursuing a PhD in Criminology. Since joining the Police Service of Pakistan in 2002, he has held key field and command roles across Punjab and Sindh, including DIG Headquarters, DIG Establishment, DIG Hyderabad Range, and DIG Sukkur Range. He has been awarded the President’s Police Medal, Tamgha-e-Shujaat, and two Quaid-e-Azam Police Medals for leading critical anti-dacoit and counterterrorism operations. He founded the Lok Sahaita Trust, leading flood relief, STEM talent programs and the Sukkur Marathon. He also introduced TRACS, which has automated enforcement, improved transparency, and set a new national standard in traffic management.
Air Commodore (R) Shabbir Ahmed Khan is a distinguished veteran of the Pakistan Air Force, where he served as a combat pilot in the 1971 war and later as Commandant of the PAF Academy in 1992. After retiring in 1997, he devoted himself to welfare and nation-building. Along with fellow officers, he pledged his pension commutation to establish Rashidabad, a 100-acre model city in Sindh providing education, healthcare, and social welfare. He later initiated two more projects, a 125-acre site near Swabi named after M.M Alam, and a 14-acre educational satellite near Rashidabad, set to open in 2026, continuing his lifelong mission of service to humanity.
Dr Adnan A. Jabbar is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medical Oncology, Ziauddin Hospital. He is the Ex-President of the Society of Medical Oncology, Pakistan. Dr Jabbar received his medical education from Dow University and later moved to USA where he received his PhD in Immunology. He completed his Internal Medicine training from NUMC, New York and Hematology/ Medical oncology fellowship from Emory USA. He is an expert in solid malignancies with special interest in neuro-oncology, breast, GI and GU malignancies. He has several manuscripts to his name and has served as PI in many phase 3 clinical trials.
Capt. Ali Asghar Khan is a Master Mariner from Pakistan Marine Academy, with extensive global maritime experience. He is affiliated with the Nautical Institute (Vice President – Pakistan Branch), Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, and Fellow Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, London.

Syed Asad Raza, a career officer in the Police Service of Pakistan, joined the service in 2005 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). Since then he has served in diverse and challenging assignments across urban and rural Sindh, and in specialized policing roles. As such he gained extensive experience in public order management, crime prevention and investigation, counter-narcotics, and counter-terrorism operations.

Mr. Cemal Sangu, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Karachi since December 2021, was the guest speaker. A seasoned career diplomat, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988 and has served in Turkish missions across Dhaka, Jakarta, Rome, Astana, Marseilles, and Dublin.
Mr. Sangu graduated from Hacettepe University in 1988, earned a Master’s in Physical Anthropology from Ankara University, and recently completed his Ph.D. in International Relations from Greenwich University, Karachi. He is set to retire at the end of August 2025, completing his tenure in Karachi.
RCK had the honor of hosting Arshad Mahmud, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated composers, musicians, singers, songwriters, and actors. His career began in 1972 composing for PTV, and later, at EMI Pakistan, he mentored and groomed renowned singers including Tina Sani, Nayyara Noor, Tahira Syed, and Alamgir. The Rotary Club of Karachi welcomed Anas Niaz, Founder & CEO of Bioniks, Pakistan’s first robotic prosthetics company. With a background in Mechatronics and a passion for social impact, he designs AI-powered prosthetic limbs that restore mobility and dignity to individuals with limb differences.

He has represented Pakistan at GITEX GLOBAL, the Zero Project Conference, and the AI for Good Factory (UN ITU), advocating disability inclusion on international platforms.
Renowned for his wide-ranging contributions to education, health, culture, and youth development, Mr. Hashwani has founded several social organizations that run over 40 schools, vocational training centers, and inclusive community facilities. His efforts in peacebuilding, policy advocacy, and uplifting underserved communities have positioned him as a leading voice in Pakistan’s social development landscape.
On July 1, 2025, Dr. S. Akbar Zaidi, a distinguished political economist and the Executive Director of IBA Karachi, graced the Rotary Club of Karachi with his presence as the guest speaker at its first weekly meeting of the Rotary new year.
With four decades of experience in academia and policy, including teaching stints at Columbia University and serving on the board of the State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Zaidi brought critical insights into Pakistan’s socio-economic challenges.
