Every Member Matters: District 3271 Rolls Out a Red-Carpet Welcome for RI President-Elect Larry A. Lunsford

Karachi’s Rotary family came together in a rare and beautiful show of unity, as five clubs — Rotary Club of Karachi Karsaz, Rotary Club of Karachi, Rotary Club of Karachi Quaid, Rotary Club of Karachi Green City, and Rotary Club of Karachi Shahrah e Faisal — joined hands to host an Intercity Meeting in honour of Rotary International President-Elect Larry A. Lunsford’s official visit to Pakistan. Under the leadership of District Governor 2026-27 Shahzad Sabir, and led on the ground by Host President Aliyah Kohari alongside Co-Host Presidents Humayun Qureshi, Adnan Syed Raja Saheb, Dr. Javed Akhtar, and Shakeel Muhammad, the evening carried one clear message: Every Member Matters.

The night opened on a note of reflection and pride — a recitation from the Holy Quran and its translation by students of The City School, followed by the national anthems of Pakistan and the United States performed by The City School Choir. As the Master of Ceremony took the floor, the tone for the evening was set in one memorable line: “Bring One — Not Enough if you can’t Engage One.” Aliyah Kohari welcomed the room with warmth and purpose, and the momentum built further as Anila Chaudhary, District Learning Facilitator, unveiled the Smart Village initiative, a powerful reminder that behind every community project stands a member willing to give their time, skill, and relationships.
The energy in the ballroom rose further as District Governor Shahzad Sabir took the stage, followed by a Centennial Book video that framed a century of Rotary in Pakistan not as history, but as a torch passed from one generation of members to the next. Then came the moment everyone had gathered for: Chief Guest Larry A. Lunsford’s keynote on growing Rotary through purpose, belonging, engagement, and leadership — punctuated by the symbolic presentation of a 200-membership commitment, a tangible pledge of the district’s growth ambitions. The evening’s most candid moment followed in the fireside chat, “From Legacy to Growth: Three Leaders, One Shared Vision,” where Larry A. Lunsford sat alongside Past Trustee Aziz Memon and PRID Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, fielding questions from an engaged audience eager to learn from Rotary’s most seasoned voices.

As the evening drew to a close, Abdul Jabbar Sheikh delivered a vote of thanks that doubled as a challenge: bring one prospective member, reconnect with one existing member, and create one meaningful role for someone new. It was a fitting close to a night that proved, once again, that when Rotary clubs come together, the impact multiplies. Five clubs, one district, one shared vision — together, District 3271 connected, served, and created lasting impact.
